Britisher Martin Lowe makes his American and Broadway debut as Musical Supervisor and Orchestrator for the musical Once, opening at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, New York, on March 18, 2012. He is well-known in the West End of London as an arranger, orchestrator, and conductor.
Lowe has served as Musical Director for the West End productions of Mamma Mia! (1999), Les Misérables, Cats, The Full Monty, Once on This Island, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (2004), and War Horse (2009), and Arranger of Vocal Music for Taboo (2002). He has a special intimacy with Mamma Mia!, having toured that show internationally to Stockholm, Tokyo, Seoul, and Shanghai, and handled the musical direction for the movie (Universal, 2008) with Meryl Streep. Among other shows he has directed are Caroline, or Change, Jerry Springer: The Opera (a recording as well), Nation (with the National Theatre), An Appointment with the Wicker Man, and The Wolves in the Walls (with the National Theatre of Scotland).
Martin Lowe was the Musical Director of Once during its pre-Broadway run at The New York Theatre Workshop from December 6, 2011 to January 15, 2012.
