Coloratura soprano Helen Arden began her Broadway career in the chorus of the operetta Monsieur Beaucaire at the New Amsterdam Theatre in 1919. She appeared as Mae in the 1928 revival of Gershwin’s Oh, Kay!, sang in two short-run musicals in 1934, and created the role of Greta Fiorentino in Weill’s Street Scene in 1947.
