Angela Lansbury on Mrs. Santa Claus #LegendsOfBroadway

British character actress Angela Lansbury, over her long career in the United States, has starred in fourteen Broadway shows and chalked up well over a hundred movies and television episodes. In 1996 she starred in the Yuletide television special, Mrs. Santa Claus in which she was reunited with Broadway composer Jerry Herman.

Set in 1910, the show chronicles the misadventures of Santa’s wife, or Mrs. North, who decides to test out a new route for Sante a week before Christmas Eve. After one of her reindeers gets injured, she lands in New York City and stays with a Jewish family that doesn’t celebrate Christmas and have no idea who Mrs. North is.

In the clip below, Angela tells us what made her take on the role of Mrs. Santa Claus and her feelings toward this delightful Holiday special.
