On This Day: Jerome Robbins’ Broadway opened on Broadway, 32 years ago!

A celebration of the work and contributions to the Broadway musical of one of its most talented director-choreographers, Jerome Robbins’ Broadway was a montage of various ballets and songs from the shows he had staged over the years. With Jason Alexander and Charlotte d’Amboise serving as the evening’s hosts, the show focused on hit musicals like Fiddler On The RoofWest Side StoryOn The Town, and Gypsy, as well as flops like Billion Dollar Baby. It opened on February 26, 1989 at the Imperial Theatre, where it held court for 633 performances.
